Deirdre Dean

Chief Executive

Deirdre has a BSc Hons Degree and spent 10 years in hotel management, mainly in London, before emigrating to Canada where she and her family lived for 8 years. She joined EBS in 2003.

Graham Rowsell

Office Manager

Graham is Office Manager and looks after the EBS talking books library. He had nearly 30 years managing accounts departments in private education before joining EBS in 2005

Janice Whibley

Low Vision Support Worker

Janice joined EBS in September 2015 under contract to East Sussex County Council. She provides personalised support to people with concerns about failing sight. Janice was previously employed by the Department for Work & Pensions for 16 years.

Mark Simmons

Resource Officer

Mark has a BSc Hons Degree and has a working background within the charity sector. In addition to his responsibility as the Resource Officer Mark is also involved with community engagement. He joined EBS in July 2017

Lucy McCance

Senior Welfare Officer

Lucy joined EBS as a Welfare Officer in 2001, having moved from London, where she was a Cordon Bleu cook. Over the years she has been on a number of courses and workshops and is now Senior Welfare Officer. Lucy delivers the Modular Training Courses as well as carrying out home visits

Joanne Reay

Welfare Officer

Jo joined EBS in March 2014 as a Welfare Officer. She previously worked for the Department for Work and Pensions for over 35 years and uses this extensive experience to support EBS members. Jo also carries out home visits.

Elizabeth Hayward

Welfare Officer

Elizabeth joined EBS in 2011 as a Welfare Officer supporting members through home visiting. Prior to being part of the team at EBS she worked in administration at Eastbourne District General Hospital.

Sandra Brace

Welfare Officer

Sandra joined EBS in September 2012, as a Welfare Officer having previously worked in the community, serving children & families. She has a range of professional qualifications including an Advanced Certificate in Advice and Guidance.

Angelica Smith


Angelica is our `mad Mexican` who joined the team in 2015 having been a school caretaker for many years. She drives our minibuses, sets up for activities and looks after the Centre.
