Volunteering

How can you help

Eastbourne Blind Society?

Become a Volunteer

The Society depends on the services of volunteers for a whole range of activities.

If you are over 25 with a minimum of 3 years driving experience, you may be able to drive one of our three minibuses that collect members for the social afternoons, bowls and various other outings and activities.

At present, we are particularly in need of a driver for Monday afternoons for the arts & crafts group and Wednesday afternoons for our bowls group.
We also have vacancies on Tuesday and Friday afternoons to help with social afternoons. Please contact us for more information and to tell us about yourself.

For some of our members who are unable to access the minibuses, a private car is the means by which they can attend an activity.  If you are able to use your own car to collect some of our less mobile members we would be pleased to hear from you.

We also depend on volunteers to help at the social afternoons, both in the kitchen preparing and serving teas and in supporting the members through befriending and sighted guiding.

Volunteers are also needed to help at the Art & Craft afternoons.  You do not need to be artistic, just interested in what goes on, interested in people and willing to commit time on a regular basis.

Volunteering is a rewarding experience and our volunteers are much appreciated and valued.   The work of our volunteers is acknowledged at the Annual Lunch and Awards Ceremony in April, which is always a happy occasion, usually attended by the Mayor of Eastbourne, who is President of the Society.
